Freeview users have a ‘serious problem’ and it might block you watching TV

If you are having trouble watching and recording some TV channels, you are definitely not alone. It seems that a number of Freeview users across the UK are suddenly experiencing a “serious issue” with their set-top box, which is affecting their ability to view services such as ITV2, More 4, ITV +1, and Film 4.

The gremlins are impacting those who use the popular Aura box from Humax, with online forums full of Freeview fans saying their entertainment is being interrupted by freezing pictures, blank screens and no sound.

“Have been away this week and recorded ITV 4 snooker,” explained Humax user Rikki.

“Came back and discovered black screen recordings.”

Humax Aura owner Bob, responded by saying, “I am having exactly the same issues on a variety of channels, picture comes on for a second or two, goes black or freezes, audio cuts in and out, signal is from the Bilsden transmitter!”

And set-top box user kingsmiller, vented, “This is becoming a serious problem.

“The more of us who report it to customer services, the more likely they will push the developers for a solution.”

HERE ARE ALL THE CHANNELS AFFECTED

Channel 6 – ITV2

Channel 14 – Film 4

Channel 15 C4 +1

Channel 18 – More 4

Channel 26 – ITV4

Channel 28 – ITV Be

Channel 30 – E4 +1

Channel 35 – ITV +1

Looking at the forum posts, it seems the issues began last week and are still ongoing.

According to the team at Cordbusters, no other devices are affected, and it’s only Auara models that are glitching.

“We are aware of the issue and we are working hard to resolve it,” Humax told Cordbusters.

“Customers should contact the Humax support team directly with any questions and they will be happy to provide assistance.”

In response to users on the forum page, the company added, “We are experiencing an elevated volume of contacts due to an issue affecting Aura set-top boxes, where certain channels may experience intermittent reception issues. Our development team is actively investigating the cause and working diligently on a resolution.

“At this time, no further action is required on your part. Once a fix is in place, it should be applied automatically. However, if you need an update, please feel free to reach out.”

For now, it seems there’s nothing users can do except wait for a fix to be released.

We’ll keep an eye on the bug and will update this article once a patch has been pushed out.
