Selections based on a soft track.
1. Cascade Mountain won four out of five earlier in the year at Walcha, Coonabarabran, Armidale and Gunnedah. He then ran second at Muswellbrook last month before dropping in distance when midfield here. He had no luck in the straight in the Grafton Cup Prelude at his last start and is poised to bounce back to form with a trouble-free run against this company. 3. Wolf Club has won two from his past four race starts here and comes into this on the back of a last-start sixth at Mudgee. 4. Stockholm ran fifth in the same race Wolf Club contested at his last start. 6. Mr Plume ran home fairly well at this track last time out and can get into the placings.
How to play it: Cascade Mountain to win.

3. Wanavan has been placed in his past two starts at Scone and Quirindi, and gets his chance to turn that form into a win from the inside draw. The apprentice claim will also assist his chances. 1. Hot Chestnut has not been too far away in his two most recent starts and a forward showing would not surprise. 2. River Biscotte was placed at Port Macquarie in January and resumes here after a second in a Taree trial. 6. By Linda was midfield at Muswellbrook when resuming and is worth including among the main chances.
How to play it: Wanavan to win.
1. Eagleturn is a Star Turn gelding on debut. He won his first trial at Scone and then finished second in the other at Gunnedah. He looks set to run well here. 2. Great Idea ran fourth on debut at this track in March and then resumed with a fifth at Mudgee when not far away. This looks a nice race for him. 4. Mr Bazza is on debut and won a trial at Gunnedah in preparation, while 3. He’sthechief has finished third in each of his past three starts and has bright claims.
How to play it: Eagleturn to win.
9. Dartbrook was placed in two runs before being spelled and has been placed in both runs since resuming, the latest behind the talented Occult at this track. He’s drawn the inside gate here and should get every chance. 1. Rebel Rhapsody has been placed in three of six starts and is first up here after a third in a Wyong trial. 2. Xerxes resumed with a midfield finish at this track and should be better for that run. 3. Enchanted World was not beaten far when fifth at Muswellbrook last time.
How to play it: Dartbrook each way.
