Selections based on a good track.
6. So You Pence started favourite on debut on the Riverside track at Wagga and ran a creditable second. She followed that with a win as an odds-on favourite at Moruya in December 2022. She’s had a recent trial at Canberra leading into this return where she finished second. Expect her to be primed to run well here fresh. 3. Rose Aye did the job well to score by a big margin at Moruya two starts ago and then ran well enough when second at Nowra. Can give this a shake. 5. Xcessive Force won well at this track on debut two starts ago when leading throughout. Also ran well again when second at Canberra and is set to give plenty of cheek here. 2. Wexford Miss broke her maiden at Kembla Grange two starts ago and then was down the track at Hawkesbury before being spelled. She’s been placed in a recent trial leading into this return.

1. Obvious Icon is on debut for the Danny Williams stable and he is a recent trial winner at this track. He has shown enough talent to indicate he will take plenty of beating. 2. Son Of Rubick is on debut and has had two trials in almost a year. The latest was at this track and was sound. Could show up without surprising. 3. Flying Chevrolet has been placed in four of her eight starts and is resuming from a spell. A forward showing is on the cards. 10. Sure Intentions was placed at Queanbeyan in January and has run well in a trial since then.
How to play it: Obvious Icon to win.
2. Jonny Be Swift showed improvement when up in distance when second up from a spell and finishing sixth at Canberra. He rises in distance again for this, which should suit, and the apprentice allowance will assist his chances. 6. Ever Was has only won the one race from 38 starts, but he’s figured in the placings a further nine times. He’s been just behind the placings of late and is worth including. 1. The Right Rein has a big weight, but his form in city grade races of late has been sound and this is easier. 11. Saint Loft was placed at Albury last time out and has place claims again.
How to play it: Jonny Be Swift each way.
7. Vin Santo has only had two starts and ran well here when a last-start third last month. He’s shown enough talent to be rated a winning hope against these. 8. Aweigh has finished second in each of her past two starts and only needs to run up to those efforts to be hard to hold out. 9. Incantation was placed at Newcastle last November and resumes here after a solid recent trial. 5. Just Chill wasn’t disgraced at Hawkesbury on debut and is not out of this.
