Albany Pride 2025 festival the “best one so far”, according to organiser Millie Reid

Organisers of Albany Pride 2025 said this year’s festival was “better than we ever could have imagined” with the LGBTQIA+ community experiencing an outpouring of support during the two-week event.

Festival organiser Millie Reid said all 38 events, which encompassed sport, art and education and ran from February 20 to March 3, were “really well attended and well received”.

“It was fantastic, the feedback we received was all really positive and the celebration felt particularly timely — given how tough things are here with upcoming election, people are keen to celebrate,” she said.

“This is the best one so far, from my point of view and certainly the easiest in terms of ticket sales and participation.

“It felt like the whole community was really engaged and it had a really nice wholesome feeling.

“There was a big travelling contingent from Perth which adds to the vibe of the town and feels like we had a bigger community.”

Particular highlights from the jam-packed schedule included the Fair Day, which Ms Reid estimates was attended by 1500 people and the barn dance later that evening.
