Giddy Goose, which has up to now been run out of a trailer, is set to open a restaurant and wine bar in Consett following the success of its mobile operation.
With a perfect 5-star rating on Google Reviews, the pizzeria quickly grew a reputation for its wood-fired dishes. Its reputation meant that plans to open an in-person dining experience have now been in the works for around 18 months.
The business owner Rhys Turner, 33, from Consett, said he was ‘overwhelmed’ by the positive response he had to sharing the news on Thursday (January 30), where he noted that there “wasn’t any negative comments!”
“We quickly saw there was a need for quality food in Consett and we have quickly outgrown the truck,” Mr Turner said.
“We were overwhelmed by the responses to the post.
“We want to bring Consett something it doesn’t have.
“Consett is calling out for a restaurant serving good quality products, which is why we wanted to make it a wine bar and serve cocktails too.”
Mr Turner hopes the restaurant, housed on Newmarket Street next to St Patrick’s Church in the town centre, will be able to open by mid-March.
