Will Kennedy threatens to embarrass Moses Suli again on the opposite edge, but his Dragons teammates arrive in time to kill off the play. All Cronulla, but the visitors are fighting.

From a scrum, Sione Katoa is allowed to skip to Moses Suli’s outside and he ends up just breezing straight past him. A saloon passage if ever I’ve seen it, Suli just froze up.

As they say in Nordic mythology, another! And the Dragons have shot themselves there. A short cross-field kick onto the tryline and Clint Gutherson and Tyrell Sloan make an absolute meal of it.
Both leap for the ball, no-one gets it and Braydon Trindall ends up falling on it as it dribbles around the in-goal. Just like that, the Sharks are back. The Dragons have been much better than 18-all, but they’re in danger of being swallowed whole here.

Set your watch to it – Briton Nikora hitting a line absolutely superbly. He’s in his 150th game and he’s shot onto a short ball there from Braydon Trindall and powered his way through Luciano Leilua.
Too good. That’s the best edge runner in the game right there, and man Cronulla needed that. Hynes converts, six-point ball game.

The Sharks have the early running again to start this half. It’s a strong set that ends with an attacking cross-field kick for Ronaldo Mulitalo but he knocks on in the air. He lands a good shot on Toby Couchman a moment later.

Just as I’m being a bit cheeky writing the half-time post early, Cronulla get their act together, or threaten to at least. Teig Wilton almost pinches a try right on the bell. Damien Cook won the race to a grubber and saved a try.
So that is the half in the end. All Dragons. They’re deserving 18-6 leaders. Full of running and just playing better footy. Their little men are really thriving around the ruck, Cronulla in trouble.

Game on Dragons. They’ll attack against a 12-man defensive line for the rest of the half. Jesse Ramien sin-binned for a professional foul, slowing down the Dragons after a break up the middle.

And it takes Jack de Belin all of 90 seconds to capitalise on it, he crashes over on a short ball from Kyle Flanagan.

Dragons asking the right questions of Cronulla’s goal line defence. On both wings they look like crossing until last-ditch scramble efforts deny them.
It looks good to me at least, but Cameron Smith is unimpressed in commentary by the fact front-rowers handled three times throughout the set. I’ll defer to the most experienced player of all-time on this one. For now.
Next time they come down though, no front-rowers needed. Young Dragons five-eighth Lyhkan King-Togia does it all himself from close range. He steps back against the grain, gets down low between a couple of tired Cronulla forwards and pinches a 12-6 lead.
