One of Australia’s most iconic TV and film actors, Gerard Kennedy, has passed away aged 93.
Born on March 8, 1932 in Perth, Kennedy’s career spanned more than five decades, including his breakthrough role in the 1960’s as espionage agent Kragg in the spy drama Hunter.
This performance led to his most memorable role as Detective Frank Banner in Division 4.
By this point, Kennedy had become one of Australia’s most loved actors of the time, with his Division 4 performance earning him two Gold Logie wins, back-to-back.
Loved for his ability in police TV dramas, Kennedy also had starring roles in some of Australia’s most well-known series, including Homicide and Blue Heelers.
Kennedy also appeared in the hugely popular TV series’ The Flying Doctors, A Country Practice and Neighbours.
In later life Kennedy appeared in the chilling Wolf Creek 2, and comedy Fat Tony & Co.
Leading tributes to the star online was Kennedy’s former co-star on The Flying Doctors Liz Burch.
