For one night only, the internationally successful Zap Circus wowed the southern Wheatbelt with a mix of acrobats, fire stunts, comedy and a chance for audience members to take to the stage.
With 170 in the crowd and about 90 more on the waitlist, a seat for the WA-based circus’ latest show A Circus Sensation at the Narrogin Senior High School gymnasium was in high demand on Saturday night.
Run by husband-and-wife duo Rusty Hammond and Tarrabelle Murphy, the pair have performed in more than 30 countries and received 11 awards for their act since 2015.
Murphy said the Narrogin show “was an unforgettable evening”.
“The Narrogin performance was incredible,” she said.
“The evening was electric with the energy of a sold-out audience, turning the school gymnasium into a theatre for the night with impressive stunts, hilarious comedy and even an opportunity for audience members to take the stage.
“It is fantastic to see such demand for the show in the community.
“We are thrilled that so many people had the opportunity to enjoy the evening and we look forward to working with Arts Narrogin and the surrounding shires to bring the show back again.
“We hope that by bringing our shows to regional communities we can provide joy, happiness, long lasting memories and connection through shared experiences.”
Narrogin Senior High School students got a taste of performing during a trick workshop led by Hammond and Murphy.
“The workshop was a great addition to the performance, allowing the high school students to try their hand at the art of circus,” Murphy said.
“Students learnt new skills and had the opportunity to have a go at something out of the ordinary.”
Zap Circus is touring regional WA, stopping in Mt Barker, Narrogin, Karratha, Mandurah, Manjimup, York, Harvey and Lake Grace.
