He is seeking to play on, but things didn’t look great for Lachlan Ilias a minute or so ago. His leg contacted the ground in an unsavoury manner and many were fearing the worse. He suffered a broken leg last year. While I’m no doctor, that looks to have been avoided.
They don’t need to score in a hurry, but Manly probably need to be the first to score if they are to win this one. They have some great attacking options, but in the first half things weren’t anywhere near clicking.
Between the two teams, there were 17 errors in the first 40 minutes. You don’t need to be Archimedes to work out one almost every two minutes. Manly lead 9-8 in that tally.
If there’s another 17 in the second half, it’ll be tough sledding for spectators. We deserve better.

In 2011, Wayne Bennett told Cameron Ciraldo (the player) he was surplus to requirements at Newcastle. Fourteen years later they meet again as NRL coaches. It’ll be those two, and maybe 70,000 fans watching on when Canterbury take on South Sydney at Accor Stadium on Friday.

Nathan Brown is penalised for a high tackle, and the Dragons take the chance to extend their lead with the final meaningful action of the first half. They deserve that lead, and Manly are probably lucky to still be in the game on account of what they’ve dished up so far. Dragons lead 8-0 after 40 minutes

Herald league reporter Michael Chammas was impressed with what he saw from Jarome Luai on Thursday as the Lachlan Galvin saga continued at the Wests Tigers.
“The way he handled himself in the furnace of Thursday’s press conference after fronting the media to answer all things Lachlan Galvin spoke more of his qualities as a leader than any social media post ever could.”
