NE1 is back for another year of Restaurant Week in Newcastle

The week allows you to dine at some of the best restaurants in the city for cheaper than usual, you can eat for £15, £20, or £25 per person.

There is another restaurant week in August, and they are the only two weeks of the year where you can eat for such good deals, so don’t miss out.

The restaurants alone raise over £2 million for the city, not to mention the wider economic impact on other businesses and the city.

People travel in from all over the country for restaurant week, eat and drink, and maybe go to the theatre, so everyone in the city benefits from it.

Typically, NE1 Restaurant Week draws in over 50,000 people to the city, and this year Newcastle is expecting 60,000 diners.

People travel to Newcastle from all over and visit their favourite restaurants, try new restaurants, and some become returning diners over the week, and they can try multiple cuisines in one week all in one city, for cheap.

“The week really brings the hospitality industry together, at a time when it would usually be quite competitive. January is normally a quiet time for hospitality, with a lull in restaurants and bars after the festive period. NE1 week combats this.

“It also helps the staff, who can work more hours, and it really creates good environments in the restaurants.

“Businesses in Newcastle are proud of Restaurant Week, being the first one and a trailblazer for other cities in the country to have their own Restaurant Week.

“Get out and enjoy it, eat at restaurants you love, or find a new favourite!”

Andy Hook, Owner and MD of the Hooked On Group, Blackfriars, and Dobson & Parnell restaurants, has been involved with NE1 since the beginning of 2011.

He said: “It’s a real opportunity to celebrate, it brings more people to our city at a normally very quiet time and gives us the opportunity to impress new clientele who wouldn’t normally come to our restaurants.

“We can guarantee our staff more hours, so everyone benefits from it.

“It helps build a sense of community between the restaurants; the restauranteurs communicate between each other to ask how restaurant week is going. We can each showcase what we do best.

“I would encourage those who haven’t yet to take part, it’s a no-brainer for me! It’s free to take part and there aren’t any restrictions, you can choose your own offers.

“It works for everyone, you can see during the week in the city that all the restaurants are busy, we are already fully booked.

“I would definitely encourage people to come and try a new restaurant and visit some independent businesses and support our local industry.

“We are also extending our restaurant week offer through to next week at Dobson and Parnell, but we book up pretty fast so only have a few spaces left.”

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
