Ryan and Alexiou head to Newcastle seeking success on Beaumont track

The Rosehill training partnership of Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou will be well represented at Tuesday’s Beaumont track meeting at Newcastle, with three leading contenders set to go around.

The Wine Country Race Club meeting will boast the latest group 1 winning jockey Tom Sherry, who scored on the Peter Snowden-prepared Tashi in Saturday’s Tattersall’s Tiara at Eagle Farm. He will ride all three of Ryan and Alexiou’s runners.

City Gold Banner will line up in the Sharp Office Class 2 Handicap for Ryan, Alexiou and Sherry, with the Starspangledbanner colt being a debut winner in Super Maiden company at Warwick Farm earlier in the year.

“He won well in a small field at his first start,” said Ryan.

“His two runs after that were below his best, but we tipped him out for a break, and he has had two solid trials leading into his resuming run. He is ready to run well.”

City Gold Field will be Sherry’s ride for Ryan and Alexiou in The Adviser Collective Maiden Plate (1350m).

He’s also had three starts and followed a fifth on debut at Kembla Grange with a fourth at Gosford.

“He comes into Tuesday’s race after a third at Gosford at his third start,” said Ryan.
