Sophie Monk has told of the terrifying moment she was caught up in the massive earthquake which shook Bangkok and Myanmar, killing at least 144 people.
Posting to her Instagram stories, the beloved Australian TV personality said she was in Bangkok when the skyscraper hotel she was staying in began shaking.
“I have never experienced anything like this,” a clearly emotional Monk tells followers.
“I was just in Bangkok in the scariest ever earthquake and on the 52nd floor, so it was like and going side to side to side the building, like we were climbing from side to side on our tummies.
“It was so full on and we ran down the emergency stairs and got out. that will get your heart racing
“I ran out with no shoes so a lady let me have her shoes, what a legend
“Anyway, I hope everyone is ok, it was so hectic
“I think it was a 7.5 or something, I don’t know what that means but, I don’t want to be in that sucker again, phew.”
Monk said there were no alarms to warn of the earthquake or directions of what to do immediately after.
Having fled down the stairs and out of the hotel, Monk says she was not allowed back in and so was left just walking the surrounding streets, even getting a foot massage

The powerful earthquake centred in Myanmar caused extensive damage across multiple regions, with rescuers in Bangkok searching for 81 people in the rubble of a collapsed building.
At least three people were killed in the town of Taungoo in Myanmar when a mosque partially collapsed, witnesses said.
Local media reported that at least two people died and 20 were injured after a hotel collapsed in Aung Ban.
