Broncos well clear after another try

The first few minutes of the second half have been good for the Roosters. At least, they were until the Broncos went all AC Milan and used three kicks on the one play to score. Adam Reynold supplied the genius before Selwyn Cobbo and Deine Mariner conspired. Cobbo scored. The sight of Roosters players standing and watching instead of acting won’t look good in the team video review. Brisbane lead 26-4 after 45 minutes

Haas and Carrigan dominate

A quick look at the half-time stats indicates we haven’t given Pat Carrigan the attention he deserves. Sixteen runs for 163m in the first half is a tremendous haul. He also has a try assist.

Between he and Haas, the first half results in 25 runs for 268m. No wonder their time has a 16-point lead.

Half-time: Brisbane lead 20-4

The first few minutes aside, that was a rough start from the Roosters. The Broncos were clearly the better side, with hulking prop Payne Haas clearly the best player on the field. There were errors, missed tackles and even defensive alignment issues from the Tricolours. Yes, it is only round one, but Trent Robinson would be concerned.

Brisbane’s lead is out to 20-4 after an Adam Reynolds penalty goal. The scary thing for the Roosters is they’re probably luck to only be down by 16. Brisbane have been clearly the better team in the first 38 minutes. It will take something special for Easts to win this one from here. Brisbane lead 20-4 after 39 minutes.

Alarm bells for Roosters

Brisbane have scored another relatively simple try in the middle of the field. Linsday Collins and Siua Wong were dragged out of formation by Pat Carrigan who slipped a pass who Jack Gosiewski who did the rest from close range. A note defensive guru, Roosters coach Trent Robinson should be pretty worried right now. Broncos lead 18-4 after 26 minutes

Haas too good; Radley done for the night

Payne Haas made that look pretty easy. The Roosters middle defence were found badly wanting as Haas slipped a ball for hooker Corey Paix who scored an easy try. To make matter worse for the home side, Victor Radley has been ruled out of the match after suffering a bad concussion. Broncos lead 12-4 after 20 minutes
