“He’s actually a better horse on pace than what he is when he gets back, but he’s worked well, he looks good and he handles wet tracks.
“He’s drawn better and, hopefully, he jumps better, that’s the key to him.”

Fioprospero ($9.50) is in the sixth but could instead chase another 2400m target at Eagle Farm after finishing third over the trip last start at Rosehill.
“It was his first run at 2400 the other day, so he’ll improve off that,” he said.
Smith said Everest slot contender Headwall would have an easy first trial on Friday at Warwick Farm on his path to resuming in the Concorde Stakes (1000m) on September 6.
“He’s looks good; I can’t fault him,” he said. “He improved significantly last prep, but a lot of that has to do with his racing manners and just getting a bit of confidence.
“If he comes back like that, he’s going to be right in the mix.”
