Iconic Aussie TV and film star Gerard Kennedy has died aged 93.
The long-time screen legend starred in television classics such as The Flying Doctors and Underbelly and films such as 1973’s The Mango Tree and Newsfront from 1978.
He also starred in recent hits including horror film Wolf Creek 2.
His career spanned decades, starting in the 1960s and was one of Australia’s first homegrown television stars.
His breakthrough role came playing enemy espionage agent Kragg in TV show Hunter in 1967.
The series followed the adventures of special agent John Hunter tracking down espionage along the eastern coast of Australia, according to IMDB.
He then played the role of Detective Frank Banner in hit TV show Division 4 for six years and won two Gold Logies for his portrayal.
The show ran from 1969 to 1975.
His Flying Doctors co-star Liz Burch saluted Mr Kennedy in a social media post on Thursday, writing “Vale Gerard Kennedy, a lovely man.”
Mr Kennedy was born in 1932 in Perth, WA to parents Clement Charles Kennedy and Australian actor and writer Phyllis Ophel.
On his IMDB profile, Mr Kennedy is described as “Australia’s version of 1950s Hollywood action star Jeff Chandler, sharing his rugged looks and intense performances”.
