Get your smoke machines ready, Snoop Dogg is headlining the AFL 2025 grand final entertainment.
The AFL announced on Tuesday the Gin And Juice star was headlining the Telstra pre-game grand final entertainment at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, after rumours swirled he’d been locked in to perform.
In a message to fans ahead of the performance, Snoop said “let’s make it unforgettable”.
“It’s an absolute honour to be hitting the stage at the AFL grand final — it’s one of the biggest events on the Aussie calendar,” he said.
“Can’t wait to bring the energy and celebrate with the fans.”
AFL chief executive Andrew Dillion said “Snoop Dogg is a pioneer, a performer, and a true entertainer”.
“The AFL grand final is the biggest event on the Australian sporting calendar — and this year, it just got a whole lot bigger,” he said.
“He’s played to packed stadiums around the world — but we think 100,000 fans at the MCG might just be his most iconic crowd yet.
“We want grand final day to be an unforgettable celebration of footy — and beyond the four quarters of the match, a celebration of culture, energy, and entertainment.
“Snoop fits that brief better than anyone.”
“From Long Beach to the biggest stage in Australian sport — Snoop Dogg is coming to the MCG for the Telstra pre-game entertainment, and we’re ready to make history.”
Snoop headlined the 2022 Super Bowl LVI halftime show with hip-hop greats Dr Dre, Eminem, Mary J Blige and Kendrick Lamar.
The 53-year-old has launched cannabis products, both for recreational and medicinal use, with his fondness of the drug shared to millions of fans on Instagram often.
He also held the Olympic torch during the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Snoop toured Australia in 2023 for his I Wanna Thank Me tour.
Rumours swirled Snoop was headlining the grand final after Melbourne radio host Ross Stevenson told 3AW’s Rumour File “it had been suggested” the 53-year-old would headline the game at the MCG on September 27.
“It has been suggested to me that the grand final entertainment this year will be Snoop Dogg,” he said.
Mr Dillon was quick to dismiss the rumours at a press conference in the following days.
Katy Perry headlined last year’s show while KISS and John Farnham took to the stage in earlier years.
