Thoughts on Ben Keays
Ben Keays is a scrappy, or scruffy-looking footballer, in terms of how he kicks and moves. But he’s easy to misunderestimate (as George W Bush used to say) due to that unfashionable kicking action. He’s a very accurate kick for goal and has excellent goal sense. One of the better value recruits in the AFL.

A riveting first quarter in perfect conditions in front of a full house at Adelaide Oval to kick off Gather Round. Dangerfield is winding the clock back this year, playing explosive football up forward. The Cats have turned up and could worry Adelaide, who lead by five points. Geelong’s Rising Star Ollie Dempsey had one of those quarters turning over the ball twice and watching it go back over his head for a Crows goal. Apart from that, the ball movement from both teams has been excellent, and it shapes as a high scoring encounter with very few stoppages unless one of the coaches decides to clog the game up in the second quarter.
The word from Adelaide
James Peatling just delivered a dangerous tackle on Oisin Mullin that should come under MRO scrutiny. Fortunately for the Cats defender – and probably fortunately for Peatling – the Irishman was OK
