Donald Trump news: Podcaster Joe Rogan turns on President after man wrongly sent to El Salvador

Popular podcaster Joe Rogan has warned the world to “get scared” about US President Donald Trump, labelling his actions “f***ing crazy” and issuing a plea to help a “gay hairdresser” he thinks is now in danger.

In the lead-up to the 2024 US election, Rogan told the world his official endorsement was firmly behind the Republican candidate, later having Mr Trump on his wildly popular show The Joe Rogan Podcast.

That instalment of The Joe Rogan Podcast quickly became Rogan’s most downloaded episode of all time.

However, despite initially supporting Mr Trump, giving him access to his 20m+ audience, Rogan has changed his tune on the 47th President of the United States.

The now-bitter relationship became apparent in a recent podcast episode where Rogan hit out at Mr Trump’s illegal deportation of criminals to an El Salvador prison.

Planes from the US landed in El Salvador on March 16 allegedly carrying 238 members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua and 23 members of the international gang MS-13.

Mr Trump invoked the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 against the groups saying the country was facing an “invasion” from a criminal organisation that has been linked to kidnapping, extortion, organised crime and contract killings.

In that illegal deportation, as ruled by a US judge, multiple men were deported in “error”, something the White House on Wednesday acknowledged.

“The thing is, like, you have to get scared that people who are not criminals are getting lassoed up and deported and sent to, like, El Salvador prisons,” Rogan said.

“This is kind of crazy that that could be possible.

“That’s horrific. And that’s, again, that’s bad for the cause.

“The cause is: Let’s get the gang members out. Everybody agrees. But let’s not (get) innocent gay hairdressers lumped up with the gangs.”

The “gay hairdresser” Rogan mentioned is a man mentioned in a Time Magazine article by journalist Philip Holsinger who cover the mass illegal deportation from El Salvador.

“I’m not a gang member. I’m gay. I’m a barber,” the man told Holsinger at the Terrorism Confinement Centre, an infamous maximum-security prison that is regarded as one of the most notorious in the world.
