Collingwood Magpies lose Jordan De Goey, Lachie Schultz to injury, Dan Houston suspended ahead of Gather Round clash with Sydney Swans

Lachie Sullivan, who played 10 games last year, played in Collingwood’s win over Port Adelaide in round one and looms as another contender to replace Schultz.

The Magpies have the oldest list in the AFL this year, and one of the oldest and most experienced in recorded history, with most of their veterans taking part in Thursday night’s game.

De Goey had a delayed start to the season after suffering bone bruising to his knee late in the pre-season. His pre-season had already been interrupted by injury concerns, including a trip to Doha in the Middle East for specialist treatment of abdominal and groin issues.

There is no timeframe yet on when Brownlow medallist and premiership midfielder Tom Mitchell will return from his plantar fascia injury.

The Swans have also endured a number of injuries. They will be missing Errol Gulden, Callum Mills, Lewis Melican, Harry Cunningham, Taylor Adams and Robbie Fox on Friday night.

Tom Papley missed the weekend’s win over North Melbourne with a crack in his heel; an injury expected to keep him out of action for six to eight weeks.
